eBooks, eAudiobooks and Magazines

Borrow free eBooks, eAudiobooks and magazines using your library card number.


Our new eBook and eAudiobook service, BorrowBox, is here!

Join us in Church Square, St Helens on Thursday 11th October, 10am – 4pm to celebrate.

You can borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks for free with your library card. The BorrowBox app is available to download from the Apple App store for iOS users and the Google Play store for Android users.  

Kindle Fire users can also download the app (see instructions), while PC users can access BorrowBox through their website – which also has a help page including frequently asked questions. 

Once the BorrowBox app is downloaded, simply search for “St.Helens Libraries”, enter your library card number and PIN plus your email address.

BorrowBox offers a wide collection of titles, with an app that is accessible, intuitive and simple to operate and enjoy.

Borrow eBooks and audiobooks with Overdrive

Please note – our OverDrive service is now closed as of Wednesday 12th September.

From this date, you will no longer be able to loan eBooks and eAudiobooks using OverDrive. Your existing loans should not be affected and will run to the end of their loan period.

Our brand new eBook and eAudiobook service, BorrowBox, launched on Monday 17th September.

It features a much wider catalogue of titles, bespoke apps for Android and iOS, as well as continued support for eReaders using Adobe Digital Editions.

Get started with RB Digital Magazines

Borrow digital magazines with RB Digital Magazines

Choose from our range of digital magazines to read in your browser, including the latest publications and 12 months of back issues. Titles you can borrow include:

All you need is your library card and a web browser to get started. You can even download the RBdigital app to take your borrowed magazines on the go!

To get started, go to our digital magazine catalogue, click “Create New Account” in the top right hand corner and enter your library card number. You will be asked to give an email address and choose a password. You can then use these details to access the service.


Log in to renew your physical items, place reservations or to request a title we do not stock.
