St Helens Community Archive VE Day 75 Celebrations
Friday 1st May
Starting from Friday 1st May, St Helens Archive Service are encouraging residents to share their photographs of VE Day celebrations and to upload them to the Community Archive site. Follow the link above to get involved.
VE Day Crafts
Monday 4th May, 11am
Make your own VE Day 75 party decorations for your home!
We will be live on Facebook demonstrating how to create bunting to hang in your window and your very own medal to give to your own special hero.
Materials needed: cereal box, sheets of paper, string or ribbon, blue and red pen or paint.
Read & Rhyme Time – VE Day 75 Street Party
Tuesday 5th May, 11am
Join us live as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day with a special Read & Rhyme Time street party.
We will have our home made bunting on display and will be reading the book ‘Our Favourite Day’ by Joowon Oh. …with songs, rhymes and fun – don’t forget to wear your red white and blue!
Wednesday 6th May, 11am
To commemorate VE Day, join us for a special reading of true stories from the book ‘Voices from the Second World War’ and ‘True Stories of World War 2’ by Clive Gifford.
Dude… Where’s My Book?!
Thursday 7th May, 11am
Join us for a special VE Day 75-themed live event, as we recommend our favourite young adult titles.
St Helens Street Parties
Friday 8th May
Join St Helens Archive Service as we share images of street parties from across the Borough. Relive the festivities of VE Day in St Helens in a special video that shares the thoughts written by a local resident in 1945.
